ES-DE - A new open source emulator front-end for Unix/Linux, macOS and Windows

New member

I'm the maintainer of the EmulationStation Desktop Edition (ES-DE) front-end.
I have been working on this project for about a year, which was initially based on the RetroPie fork of EmulationStation.
But by now it's been very heavily modified with lots of additional functionality as well optimizations and bug fixes.

As the name implies it's intended to run on desktop operating systems and it's designed to be simple to install and configure.
It's free and open source and there are ports for Unix/Linux, macOS and Windows.

ES-DE ships with a comprehensive theme set and game system configuration file with support for over a 100 platforms.
It comes preconfigured mostly for use with RetroArch, but this can of course be customized and any emulators can be used.

I recently released the first stable version so it's hopefully good enough for daily use!

You can download and find out more about ES-DE at its website:

There you can also find a short introduction video and tutorials on how to install and configure ES-DE on Linux, macOS and Windows.

I really hope you'll like my front-end :)
