Okay, my situation is a little strange to begin with. My girlfriend, overseas with her computer that is in the Dutch language, cannot play WGens or any other Gens emulator derived from it. She can play Kega Fusion and more demanding emulators fine, but Gens crashes when she loads a game.
Sometimes, and only sometimes, does it load for a second or two before crashing. Turning off sound completely seems to have an effect, as it sometimes runs fine afterwords. I know there's nothing wrong with her sound, and it doesn't explain why Gens is giving her problems.
The computer she is using is outdated, sure, but all of it's pieces are better than not only my old computer, but also her really old computer, which both can run Gens fine.
Her general specs are
x86 Family 15 Model 95 Stepping 2 AuthenticAMD ~1808 Mhz
1,536MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430
And if more info is needed, I can get more tomorrow. But for now, my girlfriend is asleep.
I'm hoping there's someone out there who can help me, or at least point me in the right direction as to where to start looking for the problem, as I not only cannot speak Dutch well yet, but it's also slow connecting to her with a help-desk application. Of course, on top of that is the fact that I'm stumped as to what could be causing the crash.
