Problems with saving on Snes9x

I have a mac and Snes9x with chrono trigger running. I played last night and i saved for the first time. When i try to open my SRAMs on anything it just won't open. I need help cause i don't want to keep playing from the start.

I don't know about on a mac, but I had problems with Snes9x eating my saves if I used the F-key saves too much, so I'd have to start from a F save and then go to save in-game and THEN it seemed to remember I had actual game saves rather than flash saves (or whatever you call them). Best of luck.
