For the emulated ps2... What controls should i use?

You mean your contoller settings?
if you have a playstation controller connected or any other similar controller (that has enough buttons to map the PSX\PS2 Controller.

then map it to match your liking, or just set it like the PSX.
x for x etc etc

if you're on keyboard.
here's my confif

W - up
S - down
A - left
D - right

E- L1
Q - L2

c - select
v - start

Numpad 4 - R1
Numpad 6 - R2
Numpad 5 - Triangle
Numpad 2 - X
Numpad 1 - Square
Numpad 3 - Circle


I find this control easier for me, no strains on the hands since your hands are spread apart, and far from each other.

anyway, you should configure it to the settings you're comfortable at
