Total Noob with a stupid question

When I say I'm new to this we're talking just hours ago...

I've downloaded my NES Emulator.
I have some roms

I've loaded the rom. I can get the game to start. "There it is! There's Super Mario Brothers 3!"

Now, How do I play the dang thing!?

Should I have a joystick or gamepad? Can't I just use the keyboard? I thought so but I've pressed every key on my keyboard and none of them seem to do anything. Aside from the left and right arrow keys, they move mario around.

I seem to have this problem with ANY game I load. I just can't figure out how to play it.

I suppose a little more reasearch is in order. Even if someone could point me to somewhere that gives the basics or an introduction. The help section of this site simply ends with "start playing" - Thats my problem... how??

Thanks
Danno

Well, like any PC game, you can do key assignments with the emulator so you can play with the keys you want. To do so, you'll need to go to the configuration part of your emulator and look for the input config.

To help you more on this, you must specify us the name of the emulator you are using.

You are asking a question which is totally out of topic of this thread.

Speaking of it, I really don't try the emulator so I can't tell much about it.
