Hey emulation nerds, want to announce the upcoming release of the Gamer-Pro Advanced.

This is the follow up to Gamer-Pro or original 4-Play

more about that here.

The Advanced adapters (i.e. GPA) are the new evolution of Bliss-Box adapters and the follow up to the 4-Play, Gamer-Pro, and Gamer-Pro jr line up. The first adapter (4-Play) was constructed in 2015 as a follow up to the original “Bliss-Box” hand made models. A lot has changed since then and the Advanced Series uses a chipset that is a bit faster. Also the early adapter had a firmware controlled USB interface whereas the Advanced Series is hardware.

What does this mean for you? It means you can Go to any level, jump higher, stay bigger, and live forever. Wait… you get the idea. It's better 😉 The main thing to keep in mind with the GPA is that it was designed to be a replacement. This means it will work along side the early version and communicate in the same fashion. you do not need to make new Retro Arch map files, and worry about button layouts. You do not have to download new software or learn no features. It just acts the same, only better.

New GPA advanced features.

> Compatible with 4-Play/GP Firmware
> Xinput and HID support
> Fixed USB 1mS Poll rate
> USB 2.0 High Speed
> True Force Feedback Ready

The First of the new Advance Series is the GPA or Gamer-Pro Advanced. Interestingly it, it comes in the same case with a face lift and a reinforced USB cable, designed for higher speeds. Attaching this adapter to a system that previously had the GP/4P installed will not know it is any different. So you can just plug it in and play. If you have any stored setting in the eEprom, you may want to note that and program this one in the same way.

The new features explained: Xinput is the new driver may OS’s are using and although it is limited compare to HID, it is more widely recognized. Using it will depreciate functionality as Xinput is less capable. for example you do not get 24 buttons, so it is no good for keypad controllers. It also has less Analogs, some controller like PlayStation can use4 press buttons and use all 8 analogs. This needs to be understood, and most of the time you want HID or Xinput not both. So to enable this mode you use a jump found inside the adapter. Fixed 1mS Poll Rate, the GPA is going to update the host every 1mS weather the Controller has new data or not. There are controller that take longer, so lag is not limited bu the GPA and rather the controller itself. In many cases there were tricks to force controller to poll faster then intend and all of this data was capture. Very few could not take 1mS. USB 2.0, yes the original GP was USB 1.1, GPA is not. USB 3.0 didn’t seem like it have any advantage in this case so 2.0 was chosen. The GP also used a firmware USB driver of sorts, and the GPA is hardware, so Dolphin crashing and the rumble slowdowns are gone now. This will also make Rumble a bit more realistic.

Bottom line, if you are new to Bliss-Box this is by far without a doubt the right option. If you are satisfied with the GP, do not upgrade. Understand mixing and matching is perfectly ok, there is no reach to trash your GP.

Note on compatibility. The aim was to match the compatibly as much as possible. There were no exception and some improvements. The aim remains the same, if you send us a controller we will try to make it work. Of course the main controllers we have on had were tested and reported on.
