snes9x question

Hello,
I had snes9x installed however all my .smc files and all my zip files with one file in them are recognized as snes9x files
I removed the SNES9X zip file to no avail, all advice appreciated.

How did you installed snes9x because its portable and run in directory.

Latest version is 1.61 from here:
