I have the mame game spy hunter from 1983 loaded and it only plays some of the sounds and when I try to accelerate the machine guns fire at the same time which makes it very hard to use the game. Any suggestions?

I recently loaded the game armor attack in my roms list for mame32. It ran fine except that I did not have any barriers to work with as the artwork must be loaded to do that. When I downloaded the artwork and put it into the artwork file, the game runs extremely slow. Please help!
