Well, my name's Bill  I love all games, no matter how old, new, crappy or bad ass so I think this is the best way to do it since I have limited space at home. I've come to the right place I'm guessing. :D I know the basics but next to nothing about how emulators actually work, which ones are good, where to find good game data and how people actually get the games format onto PC's. I'm looking for any and all advice anyone is willing to share. Any tips, doesn't matter what everything greatly thanked.

Edit : I'm interested in NES, SNES, SEGA and Atari 2600 games/emulators for starters.
