Default Help with Super Smash Bros. ROM

I was trying to use a SSB rom today and it won't work. The emulator I'm using is Project64. When I use it to open the rom, which is a z64 file, it says "Not a valid n64 image." Any ideas?

Looks like it's a fake ROM. Try getting it somewhere else.

I don't think it was fake. I saw someone else playing the same rom on the same day with the same emulator.

Well, be sure to have the latest Project64 emulator available, which is 1.6. You can get it from here or here. Also, be sure your ROM is not inside a .rar file such as WinRAR's.

Unless it was played on your PC, (I'm guessing no since you say you "saw" it) then all that other stuff is useless.

It's still possible to have gotten a corrupt rom for any number of reasons, be it a botched download, or a bad dump from a disreputable source, etc. You should consider getting your ROM from an alternate location and seeing if that fixes the issue.
