Yes, you can get a game controller and reconfigure it the way you like. This goes with keyboard too.

Yes. Make sure it's a PS2-like controller (2 analog sticks, D-pad, 4 main buttons and 4 triggers) or well, you can use a PS/PS2/PS3 controller using an USB adapter.
sorry to be such a noob, but could you help me out on that end too. I checked out amazon.com, but nothing that seems to fit a ps2 controller (which is what i have).

finally got it to work with my xbox 360 controller by buying a wireless usb receiver.
