    Hi all ,

I just downloaded the roms for a game but I really don't know how to use or run them.

All the roms end with .rom or .ROM.

Can someone describe to me how do I get them to run on MAME32?

I had tried putting the roms as a zip file in the roms folder of MAME32 directory but I can't seem to run them.

This is what happen when I run the game:
    254-p1.bin NOT FOUND
    254-p2.bin NOT FOUND
    sfix.sfx NOT FOUND
    sp-s2.sp1 NOT FOUND
    sm1.sm1 NOT FOUND
    254-m1.bin NOT FOUND
    000-lo.lo NOT FOUND
    254-v1.bin NOT FOUND
    254-v2.bin NOT FOUND
    254-v3.bin NOT FOUND
    254-v4.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c1.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c2.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c3.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c4.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c5.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c6.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c7.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c8.bin NOT FOUND

I am completely puzzled and confused.
    Can anyone help me pls?

    Thanks so much.

simple problem thats not a valid rom. mame roms will come already zipped and will not end in .rom.
    thats why mame32 says

    254-p1.bin NOT FOUND
    254-p2.bin NOT FOUND
    sfix.sfx NOT FOUND
    254-c8.bin NOT FOUND
    etc etc

because these are the contents of the rom file for the game you are trying to play.
try and download the game again and look for a zip file .

Should I rename the files to those correct ones according to the size?

I got a list of the roms that should be there in the game and other than the names, the roms I got all fit the sizes on the list.

However, MAME32 still cannot detect the roms. Should every rom be zipped or together as a whole?

    Thanks.

    I failed again ...

Ok ... I tell you step by step what I did and you see if there is anything wrong.

    1) The game roms I downloaded were that of Strikers 1945 Plus. The emulator I used was Mame32 v0.83

    2) The roms came in .rom so I renamed them most to .bin and some .rom according to their sizes as follows below. I tried renaming one of the file to zip directly but it is an invalid archive.

    254-p1.bin: 1048576 bytes in s1945p.zip
    254-p2.bin: 4194304 bytes in s1945p.zip
    sfix.sfx: 131072 bytes in neogeo.zip (sfix.sfx)
    sp-s2.sp1: 131072 bytes in neogeo.zip (sp-s2.sp1)
    sp-s.sp1: 131072 bytes in neogeo.zip (sp-s.sp1)
    usa_2slt.bin: 131072 bytes in neogeo.zip (usa_2slt.bin)
    sp-e.sp1: 131072 bytes in neogeo.zip (sp-e.sp1)
    asia-s3.rom: 131072 bytes in neogeo.zip (asia-s3.rom)
    vs-bios.rom: 131072 bytes in neogeo.zip (vs-bios.rom)
    sp-j2.rom: 131072 bytes in neogeo.zip (sp-j2.rom)
    sm1.sm1: 131072 bytes in neogeo.zip (sm1.sm1)
    254-m1.bin: 131072 bytes in s1945p.zip
    000-lo.lo: 65536 bytes in neogeo.zip (000-lo.lo)
    254-v1.bin: 4194304 bytes in s1945p.zip
    254-v2.bin: 4194304 bytes in s1945p.zip
    254-v3.bin: 4194304 bytes in s1945p.zip
    254-v4.bin: 4194304 bytes in s1945p.zip
    254-c1.bin: 8388608 bytes in s1945p.zip
    254-c2.bin: 8388608 bytes in s1945p.zip
    254-c3.bin: 8388608 bytes in s1945p.zip
    254-c4.bin: 8388608 bytes in s1945p.zip
    254-c5.bin: 8388608 bytes in s1945p.zip
    254-c6.bin: 8388608 bytes in s1945p.zip
    254-c7.bin: 8388608 bytes in s1945p.zip
    254-c8.bin: 8388608 bytes in s1945p.zip

eg. S45pn_c1.rom was renamed to 254-c1.bin

    3) I zipped every of the individual file up before zipping all the files together as s1945p.zip

    4) I also downloaded the neo-geo bios which I zipped every of the file up before zipping them together as neogeo.zip
The files in the bios are:

    000-lo.lo
    asia-s3.rom
    sfix.sfx
    sm1.sm1
    sp-e.sp1
    sp-j2.rom
    sp-s2.sp1
    sp-s.sp1
    usa_2slt
    vs-bios.rom

    5) put the 2 files - s1945p.zip and neogeo.zip into the folder roms in Mame32 directory.

    6) After this, I opened Mame32. I clicked 'File' then 'Audit all games'. However, Mame32 still cannot find my roms. I find the game Strikers 1945 plus and right click to play it then these came out:

    254-p1.bin NOT FOUND
    254-p2.bin NOT FOUND
    sfix.sfx NOT FOUND
    sp-s2.sp1 NOT FOUND
    sm1.sm1 NOT FOUND
    254-m1.bin NOT FOUND
    000-lo.lo NOT FOUND
    254-v1.bin NOT FOUND
    254-v2.bin NOT FOUND
    254-v3.bin NOT FOUND
    254-v4.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c1.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c2.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c3.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c4.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c5.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c6.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c7.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c8.bin NOT FOUND

I simply do not know what to do next to get this to work properly.
    Pls help ...

    Thanks so much.

when you run a game in mame32 it is looking for an archived zip file. if you have the rom files and they are unzipped in the roms folder mame32 wont find anything. if you have the files mame32 is looking for e.g.

    254-p1.bin NOT FOUND
    254-p2.bin NOT FOUND
    sfix.sfx NOT FOUND
    sp-s2.sp1 NOT FOUND
    sm1.sm1 NOT FOUND
    254-m1.bin NOT FOUND
    000-lo.lo NOT FOUND
    254-v1.bin NOT FOUND
    254-v2.bin NOT FOUND
    254-v3.bin NOT FOUND
    254-v4.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c1.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c2.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c3.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c4.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c5.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c6.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c7.bin NOT FOUND
    254-c8.bin NOT FOUND

then create a zip archive yourself and call it whatever mame32 calls it and put that in the roms folder and delete the .bin files. do the same for the neo geo bios. something tells me though you dont have the proper rom files cos 99.9% of places you download the roms from will have them as zip files

Thanks for help but I think I give up already .... can't get it to work ... may be due to the wrong roms.

well, things r too easy and your problem, i think, is that u dont know how to use mame. Listen what to do, to play this game(and any other mame's game):
First of all u need use the mame's emu (available free to many sites, latest version is 0.84).Then u need find the game's rom(not allowed to tell u where), the required files r "s1945p.zip" (74850 kb) and "neogeo.zip" (225 kb). After u download these files, u put them as they r(in zip form) in mame's folder ROMS.
Then u click on mame.exe, then view-refresh, then u double click on the game(indicated with green color) and..GO

PS. I ll try this game myself later (its too big(75 mb) so i need much time to download it&#33

Well..I just played it..Too much trouble for nothing i m afraid..Its just another (bad) version of 1942...(aeroplane fights) I ve tried dozen of games of this type..In fact i believe that no one is better than the parent one, the ancient 1942 !!!
Exept of course the RAIDEN 2, the best game in this kind (unfortunately not playable yet in mame, do u know any other emu which is playable into?..)

If you guys still didn't get this to work, here is what you have to do.
Go download neogeo.zip and put in where you put all the roms is. Then you should be able to play Strike 1945 Plus..etc.
