    Default Dos Zsnes no sound

Why is there no sound in the Dos version of zsnes. And yes I did enable the sound. And I have tried several different versions and it doesn't work with any of them. Please help me. Thanks.

Most likely a driver issue (it usually is with dos). Make sure your soundcard is set up with the correct drivers for dos before starting zsnes.

Can I ask though, why on earth are you running in dos?, is it a really old pc?.

If you have at least a Pentium II and a decent 32 or 64 MB video card, then the Windows version is ideal.

Ok, here is the deal; We have a computer with windows xp that has a gig of ram and a 2ghz processor, but my mom and I share it, so when she is on it I would like to have something to do, so I hooked up this old laptop that my dad brought home from work to a monitor that he brought home. This laptop has win2k on it. I would just install directx 8 on it but the problem is that I dont have internet access on that computer, and on top of that, we have dialup any ways (we are out of DSL service area).

So I just need to download a driver for zsnes for my soundcard?

You need at least DirectX 8 to run ZSNES Windows, but it's better to have the latest DirectX version, which is DirectX 9.0c for all, except for Vista.

If the laptop has sound then you won't have any problem hearing sound, since the Windows port of ZSNES uses DirectSound.

If the laptop has sound but you don't hear any, then... how do you know it has sound?

Anyway, go to your device manager and see if there are sound devices installed.

He's saying he doesn't hear sound from ZSNES, but the laptop DOES output sound.. I hope..

If you are running it from windows, sound really shouldn't be an issue, and it should provide sound.. Using the Windows version.

If you are running in pure DOS mode (which I doubt with Win2k, unless you are on a FAT32 partition) you need sound card drivers from your manufacturer.. For laptops that may be near impossible to find for DOS.

Can you try other emulators and get some from them?

Well I know that snes9k/ snes9x's sound works fine. So how do I get the sound drivers from them, and where do I put it?

And yes, it is only zsnes that dosnt have sound, sound for everything else works.

Sorry, that was a typo.. You can't get drivers from one emulator for another like that.. I meant to ask if you got sound from others..

Maybe you should drop by the ZSNES forums and ask them. Probably a lot more knowledge there than here, regarding the issue.
