Default n64 emulator for windows xp.

    Hey new to the site.

I have several emulators like super nintendo etc. But recently my bro got the n64 onto his comp.

My comp however is older. A windows xp. I downloaded the 1964 emulator and the project 64 emulator from this site, but neither worked.

The 1964 emulator keeps saying "error to start video" when ever I open a rom.

And project64 keeps saying I need plugins, d3d9.dll etc
I downloaded them but when I open up the emulator again,it says that it can't download etc.

Does anybody know how to solve this? I'll be looking over this topic constantly.

When downloading project 64, extract ALL the files into one folder. It shouldnt ask for plugins. Also, make sure you have the latest versions.

I just got it working on both emulators now. I can see, hear and use the keyboard now.

But, its really laggy. Is their a way to prevent this?

    Use projest 64 1.6

Use 16 bit graphics instead of 32 bit. Change Jabos d3d 8 to 6. This should speed it up but worsten the quality.

    2 more questions.

I went back and now sometimes I don't see the image, but the sound and keyboard still works and sounds smooth Changed everything back and now I can see, but now its going even slower.

Where do I find those options?

    I recommend:

Video (graphics) plugin: Jabo's Direct3D 6 (or 8 if you have a video card).
    Audio (sound) Plugin: Jabo's DirectSound.
Input (controller) Plugin: Jabo's or N-Rage's.
