Saving after Elite Four in LeafGreen

is it possible to save the game so that I can continue playing Leafgreen after defeating the elite four?

Because VBA uses states to save, the game cant load the save file after elite four, is there a way around this? Of course I have two save files now, one saved on the credits and one before elite four.

Is it possible to continue playing?

Download LG version 1.1, and use VBA 1.7.1 or 1.7.2 for the white screen. To save, you need to set the save game to Options --> Emulator --> Save Type --> Automatic --> Flash 128k. Deleting your vba.ini and re-setting the controls works for some, but not all people.
