Broken Pipe message (Mac OS X)

I tried downloading the MAME emulator for Mac, and when I try to open it, it tells me "mounting failed", then the reason is due to a "broken pipe". I didn't know I was going to need a plumber when I got my Mac. Can someone help me? Thanks
