Wii piracy kicks off with Red Steel
Hackers hard at work on cracking Nintendo's Wii, with Red Steel the first victim.

December 22, 2006 - Nintendo has long made a massive priority of protecting its intellectual property to the point that it even holds back from adopting new technology, with both the Nintendo 64 and GameCube making use of inferior storage mediums, as a barrier against hackers.
Wii, however, makes use of more standard 12cm optical discs, and after just four weeks of being available around the globe, the first report of a hacked game has been made by a group calling themselves 'Paradox'.
They boast, "Here we are again bringing you another world first, a full DVD image of one of the best Wii games to date, Red Steel," adding, "Thanks to all our friends who helped make this release possible."
The disc image, or single file containing the complete contents of the game disc, is currently totally useless, but the team is hopeful that it won't be long before it will be playable. Further, they declare, "Let the hacking and exploration of the Nintendo Wii begin!"
