Thread: WON'T PLAY SEGA ROMS... WHY?

Default WON'T PLAY SEGA ROMS... WHY?

I love Kega Fusion and have used it for close to 2 years... I have a large collection of Genesis and Game Gear carts, but no working systems... So this has been a godsend when I want classic Sega. But... Recently and apparently overnight I'm unable to run any of the roms I have on my DVD. Kega acts as if it will load and then either freezes with a (Not Responding) message or say Zip File does not contain a BIN, GEN, MD, SMD, or 32X file. I don't understand this, because I've played these roms time and time again and now I can't. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Kega and Gens... And nothing works. What is the problem? No problems with Nintendo or MAME Emus, just Kega and Gens... Any suggestions?

Check with the Sega games' zip files whether it is readable or not.

Would that change on it's own? It's on a DVD. But I'll check, can I change it back if so?

    I don't think so AFAIK.

Check, try to extract it, and play with that extracted roms first.

Sounds like its suddenly run into trouble unpacking the zip files. Try extracting one to a folder on your PC and run it from there. If that works then you can eliminate a problem with the Rom and the emulator. It might be the DVD has become corrupted.
