I have a problem with my NDS Emulator

I downloaded the NDS Emulator it was NDesmuMe 0.4.0
It refuses to work the games I had downloaded from *SNIPPED!*
It starts up but while you are playing it just freezes
And also how do you change the controls, I want to change the controls to my comfort
And when will a better version be released?

Please help me here
