Can't play Ape escape

When i start up the game it says you need a dual shock controler and a when its starts playing it goes to the first level and al of a sudden i can't move and when I try to config the dualshock controls the joysticks are not changing to the keys i put or anything all i get are these: J1_LY, J1_LX,J1_LZ and J1_LRZ and i have no idea what these mean at all so could some one help me plz and thnx.

that means that you need a joystick connected to your computer to use the analog controls.
