Thread: SNES emulating through N64 emulator

Default SNES emulating through N64 emulator

On the console nintendo 64 system there was a tool made that allowed people to play NES and SNES games on their N64.

My question is does anyone know if anyone managed to make an emulator for N64 that can do the same thing?

My reason for asking has to do with texture editing. Through a Rice plugin you can texture edit the images inside of nintendo 64 games. By theory if you could also play NES and SNES games through the emulator you would be able to also get those in game images out so that you can edit them through paint editing meaures.

Maybe I'm the first to thing of this or maybe it makes no sense at all. But I'm very curious about it.

Mainly because I have no clue of how to edit graphics inside of SNES and NES games. But have the knowledge and ability to do so in N64.

Anyone know anything in this area?

    Thanks

Yes. That's exactly what I'm for. An emulator that emulates N64, NES, and SNES that can use the Rice plugins.

This would allow for graphics to be pulled from the NES and SNES games the same way they are pulled from the N64 game. That would not only make changing graphics easier for me but also for people that actually know how to hack graphics in NES and SNES already.

You just pull out the graphics then edit them with a simple paint program. No searching, no coding, just simple pic editing.

This is what can be done with N64 because of the Rice plugin working through Project 64.

My personal edits in WWF No Mercy

All of that was done through a process called "Texture Editing."

If NES and SNES games can be included in project 64 working with the Rice plugin the same should be able to be done with graphics in those games.

    ......

If it's not possible to make an emulator that works with all three nintendo early systems how about an SNES emulator that can pull out graphics?

This would make the world of graphics editing a lot easier for the much older games.

    ......

I should also say that I have attempted to edit graphics in NES and SNES unsuccessfully. Mainly because I couldn't find the graphics I was looking for with the tools I used. Also because I haven't found any good tutorials on how to edit graphics on NES and SNES using the tools available.

What you need to do is google "Rom Hacking"

That is the only way you are going to be able to change graphics around in NES and SNES games

This is not my first day/week looking into hacking graphics in NES and SNES. I already have the tlp tool.

What I haven't found is a good tutorial on how to find hidden graphics.

    For example..

I'm trying to change helmets and uniforms in Tecmo Superbowl III but when I open the rom with the tools I found online the helmets are no where to be found. If I could find the graphics I have no problem editing them.

Editing them is the easy part.

I was just thinking that it would be much easier if you could just pull the graphics out that you were looking for and edit them then put them back in the same way it's done with N64 through with the Rice plugin.

If there is no way to do it yet I'll just go back to figuring out how to find the graphics using tlp and/or other tools.

    Thanks!
