How Can I Exrtract XA Audio From PSX?

There are some songs on some PSX disks that I'd like to extract. While some audio is in the CD format, I've heard there is another format called XA which is stored in STR files.

I've downloaded PSM Play 5 but it doesn't recognize STR files on its list of files to open. When I just asked to open STR files I got an error. There is no help file. The error popups I get are all in alt characters.

I've downloaded PSX MultiConverter 3.23. It does find an STR file on the original PSX Doom. But it's only the Williams intro animation. The rest are all ordinary CD audio tracks.

I'm lost. Any ideas?
