I'm searching for a missing file called kinst.chd

I've been on a dozen sites and forums asking one question, "where exactly could I get kinst.chd (the 91 or so MB file) so I could play my Killer Instinct". The only thing I was able to get from them is that it is very hard to find. If I could play KI once again it would mean sooo much to me. I've already spent two full days looking for it, now I'm afraid that I might soon give up. Please help someone

That's the most important piece of Killer Instinct and it is part of a ROM too. You can't ask for it here. Sorry.

Well I hope I'm not breaking any rules here by asking this but if it dont be too much of a problem, could a fellow gamer SHARE the file with me? I would of do it for you

FYI it is a big file, CHD are harddrive images.

It's 91,1MB, so it's not THAT big

ya, most people dont realize what a chd is, think they are going to find a couple of meg file(like other mame files), and then they come accros this file size.

True, Butters. But there are MAME ROMs that are even bigger in size
BTW, 90% of the CHDs are out of reach for dial-up users. And I wouldn't even think about getting them then, since there are enough good games without CHDs out.

Ok, I'm about to go insane, i've spent all day trying to figure out how to make KI 1 & 2 work, then i found the thing about needing the img files, i know nobody can tell me where to get them or provide them, but can someone please gimmie a quick tutorial on how to create the necessary file?! (i read that it can be done, correct me if that's wrong)

All i wanted to do is play my favorite old game again :glare: *curses at the idiot that designed the file setup*

You can only create them if you have the original harddisk.
The thing you probably mean is converting the *.img to a CHD. Perhaps a forum search will cover that, since I forgot how it worked

well i dont have anything to convert, my download of KI and KI2 didnt come with img or chd files

That's probably because you downloaded the ROMs. I don't think we could help you further. Just try finding 'ki.chd' and perhaps something will show up

ya, i wasn't gonna ask because i DID read the rules, though im not about to go scouring ebay for a KI arcade machine (although that would be sooooooooo awesome), so back to google!

@BlackStripePres. I'm a big KI fan as well. When that game came out I probably put more than $200.00 in it at the arcades. That combo theory blew me away. As far as emulating it I use U64Emu, it's is a emulator coded just for KI1 and KI2. Of course you're still on your own finding the CHD (for mame) or IMG (for U64), as well as the rom sets. The U64 emulator is very easy to setup as well.

Hey there ive managed to go on mame website to get the latest version of Mame32 and also downloaded the killer instinct rom file there. However, after several tries to launch the game it says kinst.chd and something like ||98 files missing. With a awesome pain in the a55 i did manage to get the kinct.chd file on rapidshare. Now that ive got the kinst.chd file i dont know what to do can anyone help me out with it please.
