There. You got the brand and model. Now go download it.Additional - Audio Adapter - C-Media CMI9739(A) @ VIA AC'97 Enhanced Audio Controller
lol! I know I sound REALLY stupid but I'm still having a bit of trouble *I wish I hadn't updated my driver to begin with now!* Anyway I've downloaded the appropriate driver/s for the C-Media AC97 Audio Device but nothing is still working. I think the problem is to do with the other components like Codecs and MIDI sound, maybe I've got something missing? Do they need to link up in someway and maybe the settings are incorrect. I'm so confused, can someone just explain to me simply because I really want the sound back on my computer!![]()

I've got these audio devices too:
1. C-Media AC97 Audio Device
Driver Version- 5.12.1.39 Date- 11/04/2003 (I've tried loads)
Signature - Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher
2. MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device
Driver Version - 5.1.2535.0 Date- 07/01/2001
3. Unimodem Half Duplex Device
Driver Version - 5.1.2535.0 Date - 01/26/1999
And loads of other audio thingys i.e codecs and other drivers.
Here is my sounds and audio settings/properties at present also:
Sound Scheme - Windows Default
Audio -
Sound Playback - Default Device - C-Media Wave Device
Sound Recording - " "
MIDI Music Playback - Default Device - Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth & I've got MPU-401 (Should I pick this instead?)
Voice
Voice Playback- C-Media Wave Device
Voice Recording - " "
There's a 'Test Hardware' tab,I think I'll try that!
Sorry for the exhaustive info, just want it fixed.
Thanks

Maybe you messed it up with something else. Try deleting (via Add or Remove Programs) your audio driver and install it again.
Codecs and MIDI has absolutely nothing to do with audio drivers.
Ok thanks Butters!, I'll do this now, be back soon!![]()
EDIT- Right I've uninstalled the WDM Driver and when I go onto Device Manager now, this device shows up for the first time and an error icon is on it : Microsoft WINMM WDM Audio Compatibility Driver shows up, what do I do??
On Device Status it says- A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)
How would I Reinstall it, I've tried updating the driver for it, but this doesn't work???
EDIT X2 - I've installed the audio driver for the C-Media Audio device again, but there is still no sound. I might have to dig out the cd that came with my computer to install all default drivers. What do you think?
EDIT X3- I've just installed the lastest codec driver which was released this year! I got it from here on the first thread.
http://www.cmedia.com.tw/forums/view...696027e57e311a
Is this a reliable source d'ya think? Anyway it doesn't work still, there's still something I'm missing, I can feel it!, it's obvious too!

mmmmmmm... please Butters or someone else, please look at my edits on the post above, what can I do? What could be the problem??
Thanks
CrAzY!
Do what you said on EDIT X2 and post a screen of your device manager.
As for EDIT X3, you said yours was AC'97. Get that one.
Latest AC'97 driver- version 51.3
yeah I've installed the latest one, but there is still no sound, so when you say do what I said on EDIT X2, Do you mean use the original installation cd??
CrAzY!
Yes, for now. Remember to uninstall anything that doesn't work.
