MAME AND KILLER INSTINCT WOWS

Hi, new to mame and emulation. Have read may threads regarding the killer instinct situation but can still not get it to work.
I have saved both killer instinct (v1.5d) & killer instinct 2 (v1.4) into roms dir along with the chd files in there own folders named kinst & kinst2 in the roms dir.
When i audit all games with mame32 0.107 i get the errors :

kinst : kinst NOT FOUND

kinst2 : kinst2 NOT FOUND

please help this is a real blast from my past and would love to get this to work.

Do you have the .chd files for each game? They're like 90-100 MB each.

yes i have both chd files kinst is 90 ish and kinst2 is 120ish both in there own folder under the rom dir.
just will not work?
