Just downloaded znes and dragonquest 5 and having trouble saving

I have tried saving twice at the beginning of the game and when I go to the priest and save hes says like may you have a good respite and then it's just a black screan with those words, so I just close it and reopen it but, it just says start a new journey. So does this have something to do with the game or znes and what do I need to do?

You probably just downloaded a corrupted file try downloading from a diff site it happens...
