cheats

for pokemon emerald, i wanna use the cheat code to get to a dif lvl. it says that the format is wrong and has to be liek this. lets say i want to be lvl 31, i put this D7C48346 0C094A48 but the format requires it do be liek this XXXXXXXX:YY
XXXXXXXX:YYYY XXXXXXXX:YYYYYYYY. does anyone know how i can use the cheat?

EDIT: btw i use visual gameboy advanced, and i just clicked "codes" after i opened the cheat thing (the one under "search for cheats" or somethng like that

EDIT: okay actually.. now that it works (thanks), when i go into battle the vba screen becomes black and i have to restart my vba.. anyone? help?
