ow do I use these cheat files for FCE Ultra?

I am trying to use these cheat file from this site...

I downloaded the Castlevania cheats and placed it in my file titles "cheats" in the NES folder, but nothing happens.

first of all, you must open up the config tab and then the Directories...
dialog box.. now you must set the path for cheats to the cheat folder
(because apperently having it just default there is too much to ask)
then make sure that you rename your .CHT file so that it is exactly the same
as your rom file except for the file extension (which must remain .CHT)
I was having the exact same problem as you were, and sort of stumbled upon
the answer, and just happend upon this string while looking for help. Once I found it, I knew I had to tell you (and I had to sign up for this P.O.S. forum just to do it, but oh well... more junk mail for me. Well I hope this helps you out and happy cheating (btw: I download the exact same castlevania .cht file from zophars domain and am using it successfully, so that should do it)

btw again: I just realized that you need to turn off the infinite life and time cheats before grabbing the orb after defeating a boss. after you beat a boss the game will count up your remaning time and life (infinitely) before you move on and add it to your score. Turn it back on after this is done
