Thread: Off Center Graphics

  1. #1

    Default Off Center Graphics

With many games the graphics do not go all the way to the edge of the emulator screen. In almost every case, the blank line is on the left side of the screen. It almost lookes like the rom isn't centered correctly in the emulator screen. Does this happen because a rom is bad or because that games just doesn't translate as well as others?

This is a byproduct of emulation. We see edges on the PC window that normally are not visible on the TV screen. For instance, the clipping on the edge of the screen in Super Mario Bros. 3

What I am talking about seems to occur on all emulators such as Jnes, FCE Ultra, and other popular ones. The line I mentioned is more like a stripe. It is usually black but other times it is the color of the background of the game. I don't know better how to explain it. It is not just a single line though. If you enlarge the game to fit the whole screen the stipe is about half an inch thick.

Nevermind. I think Neco answered my question right because I just looked at Super Mario Bros. 3. Is there a way to get rid of this? Why do some games have it and not others? Not that important, just curious.

You can't get rid of them and you must learn to live with it.
