Rather simple solution really... Check the manufacturers web site.. It says they are keymapping tools also. So if you're lucky you can map the D-pad to emulate keyboard keys, and successfully map the keys in MAME. Assuming the company isn't just trying to be fancy with the name, and you can actually map the keys that way.

Yes, it should work. You can find the controllers config here:

Start -> Control Panel -> Printers and Other Hardware -> Game Controllers

You SHOULD be able to map your D-pad to your keyboard keys. And then you go into your MAME config and use those same keys as the directions for your games.

Thus. when you push the D pad, it triggers the keyboard key that is bound to your game...

Do you see what I am saying?

Hey I have this exact same problem, but with my Dreamcast pad. The dpad responds in epsxe, gens, znes etc. but not in kawaks and mame.

    Can anyone help me please?

    -edit-

okay using the driver for my pad coverter i can map the dpad to the up, down, left and right keys, but i cant perform diagonal movements with the dpad (which renders fighting games pointless)

    help?

Most arcade fighting games expect 4 switches for movement up, down, left and right. The diagonals are achieved by sending 2 inputs to the game e.g. up + left will give you a left diagonal. If your joypad is sending a dedicated 'diagonal' switch to the game it wont recognise it.

The problem with solid state d-pads like the dreamcast one is that you can only hit one input at a time because you can't press up and right at the same time, which is what the game would expect from a joystick.

You really need to use a pad that has seperate buttons for up, down, left and right with arcade games that require diagonal movement.

The other issue might be that the keymapper won't send more than one input key at a time so although you are pushing up + right the keymapper sends up then right.

If this is the case try using Joy2Key which afaik supports simultaneous input and should work with any controller that works with windows,
