Assuming it's even spoken the way people are interpreting it..

Why do they even calls these things consoles anymore?
They are anything but.. Just call them compact gaming machines or something more refreshing and honest

What? Coherent sentence structure please

The easy way:
PS3 will kick any other console's ass, because this time it really is a HOME ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM.
Sony's been bragging with this stuff with PSOne and PS2,but now it's reality.

Happy now Mr.Teacher...Sir ? :my_rambo:

I don't at all see the relevance this has to do with my opinion on why these machines are sold as game consoles. Sounds to me like you just have a chubby for a pile of circuits and want everyone else to feel the same

We have many choices now. Personally I don't want a home entertainment system, so PS3 is outta my list.

I also think Sony mean to make PS3 a Home Entertainmet System, because it would be way cheaper than any Blu-Ray Disc player, and the BD vs HD-DVD war is as important as the next gent console battle IMHO. Not to mention the WiFi usage to make a it a "Media Center" (again Xb360 like) plus the connection with PSP: I'm sure it would be possible streaming video from the PS3 to the Sony handheld, plus some other features suggested on the official PSP roadmap (and the leaked firmware images - which may be wrong though)

2 vs 2 now :D

And since I also have another personality that says PS3 is a Home Entertainment System (yes I am schizo for those that don't know) this is:

- 3 vs. 2 now. :D

I think I may be a little late in this conversation, but oh well.

You must admit, Nintendo is absolutely brilliant. Not only have they gotten everyone to talk maniacally about the released name, but it's also a flexible name in a non-gaming sense as well.

Think about it.

It's simple, clean, and well presented, much like Apple. It represents the new fad in technology. Nintendo is trying to corner the non-gaming audience, so it works.

Although, I must admit, with the name Revolution their damn marketing plan would have written itself.

If you don't like it, just cover the name up with a piece of cardboard. I'm sure they won't mind.

Nintendo said:
Introducing... Wii.
As in "we."
While the code-name Revolution expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer. Wii will break down that wall that seperates videogame players from everybody else. Wii will put people more in touch with their games... and each other. But you're probably asking: What does the name mean?
Wii sounds like "we," which emphasizes the console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.
Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people playing it. And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of videogames that sets it apart from the crowd. So that's Wii. But now Nintendo needs you. Because it's really not about you or me. It's about Wii. And together, Wii will change everything.
