    Default Pentium M cpu question

A firend said to me that Pentium M processors run at the same speed as a standard pentium 4 processor at deouble that speed. That is, a 1.7ghz Pentium M runs at the same speed as a 3.4Ghz Pentium 4, etc. Is this actually true?

yes, it is somewhat true. for gaming and somewhat unpredictable stuff that doesn't require a long execution pipeline, P-Ms are much faster than netburst chips (P4 northwoods, williamettes, prescotts). but for linear and predictable stuff like encoding that require long pipelines, they get crushed by P4s.

P4s will still win when it comes to multitasking because most current models have HT.
I hate all of you, especially donkeyknob.
