and speed freaks was the best four player game on the psx
smash court tennis was really good
ape escape was a truly excelent platformer
and bust-a-move 2 is one of the best puzzlers ever

Looking at what hagbard recommended and throwing in a couple extra:

Fighting - Capcom VS SNK Pro

Driving - Either of the Gran Turismos but good grief, steer clear of anything but Ridge Racer Type 4. Also, WRC Arcade and/or either of the Colin McRaes for solid rallying.

Action - Klonoa for pure joy and fun. Megamen, any of the X-es, if you like Megaman of course. Strider 2 for the hot ninja sex.

And if you're in the mood, try Pratchett's Discworld game, it's an excellent point-and-click adventure and has marvellous voiceovers.

Even though it's a RPG I reccomend Valkyrie Profile.
