What's the meaning to these letters!!! Please help :(

:( Someone please tell me what all these letters at the end of each rom files mean. I have like 5 or 6 versions of the same game (rom) but I can't figure out what all those letters on parentesis at the end of each rom mean. I can't find anywere a definition to this confusing stuff. Someone give me a link or something to understand. Plz :(

(U) = USA
(E) = Europe
(J) = Japan
(G) = German
(!) = Good Rom
[b*] = Bad Dump
[h*] = Hack
(V1.0) = Rom version.
(NTSC) (PAL) = Video system 60/50 Hz.

I'm not sure about the other ones.

A bad dump is a ROM image that is incorrect for some reason. There are numerous reasons that bad dumps occur; partially dumping a ROM (only half of it for example), incorrectly connecting it up for dumping, a faulty/damaged ROM, etc.

A dump is the process of copying a game from a cartridge to a file on the PC and that's what we call a ROM file.

An overdump is when a game is copied + useless data, I think.

What Chewbaca was trying to say about a lot of FFs and 00s he meant about hexadecimal codes, which are compossed of the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0, and the letters A, B, C, D, E, F. Basically an excess of FFs and 00s is an overdump.

Cool!!! Sounds like you know a lot about this stuff... But going back to my previus question. Why they add all these bad and useless roms to some roms download. I downloaded a huge bittorrent file that had the good room [!] and also had the bad dump. If these files are no good why they put them out for download? Thx for taking the time to answer my questions :eek:
