Newb needs help with PJ 64!! please...

When I start up any ROM in PJ 64(or other emu's), it plays for a minute or two, then I get black screen and the whole pc is frozen and i must reboot manually. This happens every time. I've got a radeon 9600 graphics card which I thought was fairly good. My processor is 1100 mhz. I've messed around with my ATI settings for months and nothing has changed. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm dyin' to play Majoras mask.
