Default Help a dumb kid with N64 emulation

I know probably every new yahoo who comes on here asks the same question, but I've got no other choice. I tried downloading several emulators from emuparadise.org with little success in getting it to actually work. I'm not very computer savvy, and I have a dial up modem so I have no reason to be. I downloaded Mario Golf, which came up as a .rar file, and I have no idea what that is or how to work with it. Quite simply, can anyone give me general step by step instructions on how to get this emulator to work, how it works, or redirect me somewhere for help. I really wanna play Mario Golf and Mario64 again. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

That .rar file can be opened with winrar. Rar files are just like .zip files. I know little about N64 emulation but i know that Project64 is probably the best emulator to choose. There's a list of good and bad video cards there, check that your video card is compatilbe first. You'll need plugins for the emulator but i dont know which ones you'll need, try reading the readme file that may came with the emulator (Thats if it has one). Then once you set up the plugins and you've unRARed the game, its just a simple file open rom (The game) then injoy.
