need some help beginner

hi, im still new to this ps2 emulation stuff. i had a game that i tried to play and the screen showed me the ps2 intro and asked for some system configuratio0n.so the next screen was the one with the memory cards and the cd. WAT DOES THAT MEAN?? is the cd not compatible with pcsx2????
and if any one knows any links that could tell me how to use the pcsx2 pleasse post.

Btw, PS2 emulation it's in the beginning right now, only a few games work but even extremely slow.
