Unless if your friend have a unknown do far private beta of some emu, I think he's mistaken.

Um, ds roms didn't work on my computer either. There's currently no working ds emulator, if I know well, or at least the majority of the roms don't work on public emulators, only demos, but it is painful :S. I don't know how the emulator worked on your friend's computer. If you can tell us the emulator's name, we might figure out it. (I'm curios about it because they crash on my PC, too.)
[off topic] P.S.: Nintendo will be releasing Pokemon D/P in September, and though it will take some time until they put the rom on the net, I'm sure they'll put it. I don't think they'll have any working ds emulators until then, either. Too bad. At least Nintendo wouldn't like to have their products put on the web, that's why they probably won't let really working ds emulators to be downloaded public, so though you have the roms you need, you don't have the corresponding emulator for it

Checked iDeaS website, they have made the Metroid Prime Hunters intro movie to work.

Hehe, you never know what these emulators can do. One of the wonderswan emulators has frozen my computer and it was difficult to fix the problem. That's what I call "painful", cause some of them can ruin your computer (it really depends on the computer and it's configuration, hardwares, etc.). I never trust emulators that don't have a description or equipped with a Readme.txt or something since then .
