This game is locked?!

Im trying to play Metal SLug 4 and 5 using Nebula 2.24 but with no luck. Nebula didnt give me any errors when loading the game but the graphic is very distorted.

That mslug4 set & dat it's the same I have, and no problems here. I'd give a try to kawaks or Mame, as it's the same set afaik. Trying decypting the C roms might help, with the convert2 tool. If you can't find it, post here and I'll try to sen you that

About mslug5, it's so weird too, as it's pretty similar to my set, only changes by the addition of decrypted V roms, which have the samples recorded. Anyway, give a try to my mslug5.dat

I suggest using the latest UniBios from Razoola, once you get that, zip the bios into your neogeo.zip. Then check go to Nebula's menu Game -> "Neogeo Options" -> check "Use Universe-Bios", restart Nebula and see what happens. Good luck

ACtually when I tried to play them, sometimes it will show distorted graphics, sometimes it will just show "the game is locked" header. Anyways, what is :-

1) .. the C rom filename (for mslug4) and how do you decypting the C roms?
2) .. the decypting V rom that you have (for mslug5)?

Oh btw, with unibios from Razoola, it still doesnt work.

I'm afraid you will have to try another emulator. If I remember correctly a few games are locked in Nebula.

If you have said first you got the message "The game it's locked" I would tell you another way to run it. Nebula 2.23 (not 2.23a, b etc) doesn't have locked games. Btw, mslug4 it's supported by Kawaks and Mame, so I'd try them.

Your questions:

1) Kawaks -> Tools -> check "Enable save decrypted Cs after loading". This is the easy way, but not very usefull as you play encrypted mslug4 on that emu, and the game would be locked anyway.

2) I have told you to ty my nebula dat because I've seen you also have that decrypted V roms.

If you wan to use Nebula anyway, you would need some Nebula loader, some leaked Kawaks dev version, an unnoficial Mame or Nebula 2.23. I can't told you further, if you use google you will find them all.

Due to the fact Nebula used the old MAME rules which is uninclude the games which is released under 3 years rule. Furthermore, the emulator hasn't been updated yet since the rule changes being made.

It might be the p1 or p2 which is probably the main problem. Need to be decrypted somehow. But wait you have another p1, right? Try to switch it and make an dat like this.

nope...dont work. 2.23 will just keep crashing but if i use 2.24, mslug5 will complete the loading but the header will says the game is locked. sound could be heard too.

Ooops, just noticed that p1b is 8MB file in which nebula 2.23 will crashed no doubt. Looks like that you have to look for a correct one specially p1 and p2 which is best for Nebula 2.23 through Google.

Or perhaps someone will you for this later on.

Well, that romset is probably made for other emulators and not Nebula.
