no you dont need bios. project 64 runs games without you having to get any plugins yourself. what is the extension of the file? (.n64,.nes.iso) it is possible that its a fake. in that case get norton armed and ready.
My home arcade project is offically underway!

    keep posted on it!!!

Put your N64 rom in the defined rompath of project64, the press F5 to update the list. It will reads if its know or not.

The best way would be to verify your roms with GoodN64

Type goodn64 -ren on a .bat file, unzip goodn64 pack and execute the batch on the same folder as the rom. It would reanme and list (N4have.txt) if the rom's it's good, verified ([!]) or bad dumped ([b]). If not listed , probably it's not a N64 rom or it's hacked, although it might be a new dump, (hardly possible)

Many project64 compatible plugins are very good btw, like RiceVideo or N-Rage Dinput

Just because I'm simply don't know how to make an emulator like that as I have no single knowledge of programming. Furthermore you yourself don't know how to program it either. So, simple route is ask the author of 1964 whether he would help you or not.
