A few hours ago I had a nice system crash and as usual when something like that happens I use a backup and within 20-25 minutes the sytem is back thanks to the fact that all my work is kept in the second disk except for one thing... At first I panicked because the first thing I thought was that something might happen to my database and scripts(all located in C). The disk is NTFS so DOS could do nothing(if I had a NTFSDOS floppy I could do something but I erased that a few weeks ago).

What could I do to save all those valuable data? There was only one thing... Knoppix! Thank God I kept a CD just in case something like this happened, I just tested my data and everything works :P

So if you have some time to spare and a CD to burn go get Knoppix. I've been using it for three months and it saved my life...

    * This is a thread to honor Knoppix.

Yeah, I've used Knoppix. Didn't feel the need to make a thread about it though. Funny that.

A lot of threads would be better suited in Honka.

It was just the first time I really needed to use Knoppix. So far I was just using it to test foftware but it was the first time I used it for data recovery. THANK GOD everything I copied works. I wouldnt know what to do if everything was lost... it took me three weeks to write those scripts and it would have been a disaster if everything was lost.

There is one bad thing I'm afraid. I forgot to copy the mysql & binary backups of this forum... I'll have to make new ones tomorrow.

Porno: Knoppix is software, it belongs here.

The name is Pornography, and I know it does, it just could have also been better in Honka, A LOT more suited since this thread doesn't gain much interest, or have much to discuss about.

I think your over-dramatic tone is just annoying people, Lefteris. Most people don't make threads when they use software, they're not that self absorbed.

The fact that you're writing scripts has sent a shiver down my spine.

Ha ha ha... Last time I checked operating systems were considered software as well. Try finding something smarter next time.

Haha, last time I checked you were so socially challenged that you couldn't even work out what people were saying in their posts. Oh look - still applies.
