ES-DE - A new open source emulator front-end for Unix/Linux, macOS and Windows

Hi!

I'm the maintainer of the EmulationStation Desktop Edition (ES-DE) front-end.
I have been working on this project for about a year, which was initially based on the RetroPie fork of EmulationStation.
But by now it's been very heavily modified with lots of additional functionality as well as optimizations and bug fixes.

As the name implies it's intended to run on desktop operating systems and it's designed to be simple to install and configure.
It's free and open source and there are ports for Unix/Linux, macOS and Windows.

ES-DE ships with a comprehensive theme set and game systems configuration file with support for over a 100 platforms.
It comes preconfigured mostly for use with RetroArch, but this can of course be customized and any emulator can be used.

I recently released the first stable version and it should (hopefully) be good enough for daily use!

You can download and find out more about ES-DE at its website:
https://es-de.org

There you can also find a short introduction video and tutorials on how to install and configure ES-DE on Linux, macOS and Windows.

I really hope you'll like my front-end :)

Leon

Great project but i like "clear" retroarch im using it on my debian.

If someone have problems or want more control im recomend emulation station and your project.

Thanks for the feedback!
Yes if you prefer to use only RetroArch as-is then this application is not for you.
But if you would like a more streamlined interface with game images, videos etc. while browsing your library, then ES-DE could be a good application to try out!

Anyway, thanks for considering recommending ES-DE, I recently made the source code public and released the first version so I'm looking for more users on all the supported operating systems :)
