Default Check out this bizarre screenshot...

Haven't fired up SNES9X in quite some time. Go to bring up Super Mario World to impress a cute girl and I'm not directed to roms....instead my folders are impossible to navigate because the names are made with dollar signs and other symbols/numbers.... I tried adding a screenshot to better explain but my post was denied because of it.

why you try open bootmgr file this file is used for detect os and hard drive.
and those "signs" mean problem is with fonts and emulator.
do you have all fonts and languages installed.
any way check out did you have wiruses.
    use eset,dr web and kaspersky.
and not because signs but because you have listed sns roms sharing name of roms and share them here is illegal.
    thread can be closed.

I didn't list any roms...the screenshot only shows the path. I've been using emulators for over a decade. I'm not new to this...this is just a new issue for me.

I see nothing illegal there. Links might be against local rules, but nothing wrong with showing the names of roms.

I wouldn't worry about corrupt descriptions, just select the rom you want to run and away you go.

SNES9X being very old probably has its fair share of minor bugs.
