dolphine emulator AR code issues

okay, i downloaded dolphin because my roommate is moving soon. i just started playing his copy of paper mario: thousand year door. I'm fairly far and i'm now being forced to switch to emulator and rom.

to get back where i was, i was going to speed through to where i was with my old level and items. I just can't seem to get the AR codes to work. I've enabled cheats i've tried a few codes with no results.

these are the ones I've tried

Quick Level Up:

and

999 star points:

the thing is, the codes already there work, but new ones just won't work. so codes do work, just not the ones i want. now can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong???

I'm not so sure how much of a help this is, but try to use a different version. Some emulator developers have a function enabled in one version but disabled in the other while it is still visible
