Default Mapping a gamepad to Jnes

I've got a Microsoft Sidewinder Freestyle Pro Gamepad that I cannot get to work with JNES. It does not recognize it at all. It is installed, and all the diagnostics show that its working fine. I'm not an idiot but this is kinda dumbfounding me.

It happens... Only way around it is a joy2keys or xpadder like program.
Original, the only way to play.
