You may already know this, but remember that kbps is NOT the same as KB/s.
The bandwidth is measured as kbps and download rate (a.k.a. downstream) is better measured as KB/s.
My DSL has a 256 kbps bandwidth and can download at 26 KB/s.
Dial-up has a maximun of 56 kbps bandwidth and can download at 4 or 5 KB/s.
Download rate are not always the same... One day I was downloading at 0.01 KB/s![]()
