Default NDS emulator issues on tablet running Windows 8

I recently downloaded Desmume on my Lenovo tablet running Windows 8, and it works perfectly ... when I'm using a keyboard and mouse. I was hoping to use the touchscreen, but touch inputs don't register correctly. Swiping and dragging work fine, but single taps won't register unless I double-tap. I tested this with other emulators such as No$gba and iDeaS, and they all have the same issues.

Is there any way to resolve this?

Is there a way to change settings to where it presses with one tap? It sounds like something with the OS.
