Mortal Kombat 1 and UMK3 "DIP Switch" problem

When I try to start up Mortal Kombat and Ultimate MK3, I'm automatically taken to the diagnostics menu. When I try to exit out of there back into the game, I get this message:

DIPSWITCH TEST SELECT (SW1 #1) CLOSED.

PRESS ANY BUTTON TO RETURN TO TEST MODE
OR
OPEN THE SWITCH(S) TO RETURN TO GAME.

I see that, in the "Diagnostics Test"'s "DIP Switch Test" menu, that the #1 part under SW1 is indeed turned off. Problem is, I have no idea on how to turn these on or off. Can anyone help?

When the message appears, press Control (fire key), and you get a test menu.

Then press F2, and game will start.

Pressed Ctrl, nothing happens. Now (not because I pressed CTRL), there's a new message stating:

DIPSWITCH TEST SELECT (DS2 #8) CLOSED.

COIN DOOR TEST SWITCH CLOSED.

PRESS ANY BUTTON TO RETURN TO TEST MODE
OR
OPEN THE SWITCH(S) TO RETURN TO GAME.


Now, on this screen, when I press F2, the "COIN DOOR TEST SWITCH CLOSED." part disappears, but the game still will not load.

I think you said that you'd played with dip switches.

Delete the nvram and cfg files for that game. Then try again.
