mame cheats where do the files go?

I got some file with cheats for mame but dont know where they go and how to set it.Help!

I'm sure you saw the answer on the other forum... but just in case,
put the cheat.dat in the same folder as your mame program. (eg C:\MAME)
Then, find the cheat option in the menus and turn it on.
Then run a game, press tab, and select the cheat item in the menu.
