I have released MasterGear-Android 2.8.16, a new version of my Sega GameGear, MasterSystem, and SG-1000 emulator:

In this version, I have enabled gamepad navigation in the tabbed Settings and made it possible to reassign Moga controller buttons. Also fixed a nasty bug that made MasterGear drain the battery when running in the background. See the complete change list below.

I have released MasterGear-Android 2.9, a major update to my Sega MasterSystem, GameGear, and SG-1000 emulator:

This release adds support for Pro Action Replay cheats and Cheatopedia with a bunch of cheat codes for popular games. I am going to add more cheats in the future releases. You can also add your own Cheatopedia entries by editing the MG/custom.chts file in the internal storage. Pro Action Replay cheat format is XXXX-XXXX. More information about adding your own cheats can be found here:

MasterGear emulates Sega MasterSystem, GameGear, and SG-1000 videogame consoles. In the new version, I have fixed recognition of file names that contain multiple extensions and added cheats for 26 more games to the Cheatopedia, including Sonic games, Phantasy Star, and Prince of Persia.

I am releasing MasterGear-Android 2.9.3 today, a new version of my Sega MasterSystem and GameGear emulator:

The new version has got the slow-motion mode (combined with the fast-forward mode in the Settings) and a variety of fixes. More importantly, I have started adding workarounds for external SD card restrictions imposed by Android KitKat. If you are a KitKat user, the new MasterGear will let you keep your games on the external SD card, saving your gameplay states to /sdcard/MasterGear folder or the app-specific SD card folder, as KitKat prohibits third-party apps from writing arbitrary SD card folders. No, I do not know why Google made this restriction. I guess their Nexus devices simply do not have SD cards, so they never tested.

ALL CHANGES:
* Added slow-motion mode, combined with fast-forward mode.
* Fixed multitouch input in cases when it didn't work.
* Made a work-around for external SD card use on KitKat!
* If can't write to external SD card, saving states to /storage/sdcard0/MasterGear.
* If MasterGear folder doesn't exist, saving states to /storage/sdcard1/Android/data/com.fms.mg/files.
* Fixed fast-forwarding in automatic frame rate mode.
* Fixed a crash in Cheatopedia, when displaying the list.
* Fixed rare crashes in gesture detection.

Just released MasterGear-Android 2.9.5, a new version of my Sega MasterSystem and GameGear emulator:

This release fixes Cheatopedia on Kitkat devices and adds cheats for 14 more games. Moga and other analog gamepad users are now able to adjust the sensitivity of their analog controls. I also included the access to Settings into the File Selector menu.

ALL CHANGES:
* Fixed Cheatopedia on Kitkat, when running games from SD card.
* Added "Analog Joystick Blind Radius" setting for Moga and other analog joysticks.
* Added "Show File Selector Toolbar" option to show or hide toolbar in the File Selector.

* Added Strider, Super Kickoff, Wonderboy, and 11 more games to the Cheatopedia.

I have just published MasterGear-Android 2.9.8, adding automatic search and download of the games box art:

Once you enable "Download Box Art" option in the File Selector and connect via WiFi, the new MasterGear will automatically search the Internet for the box art images of your games, download, and show them in the games list. I have also improved DropBox integration: you no longer need to enter the DropBox password every time you run MasterGear, and your gameplay state is automatically uploaded to DropBox once you finish playing.

ALL CHANGES:
* Now automatically downloading box art images when on WiFi.
* Enable "Download Box Art" in File Selector main menu to download box art.
* Choose "Download Box Art" in context menu to find box art for one game only.
* DropBox no longer requires login every time you open it.
* Gameplay saved back to DropBox after you are done playing.
* Added Gallery support for SD card folders on Android Kitkat.
* Added DropBox upload from SD card folders on Android Kitkat.
* Hopefully fixed "O" button on Sony Xperia gamepads.

Starting this week with the MasterGear-Android 2.9.10 release:

Starting with this release, you no longer need to browse through the list of games in the Cheatopedia: it will try automatically locating cheats for your game. Xperia owners should be able to assign the "O" button on their keypads. Finally, the new MasterGear comes with a decorative backdrop image. If you do not like it, disable it via "General | Show Portrait Backdrop", or supply your own image in /sdcard/MasterGear/Backdrop.png.

ALL CHANGES:
* Cheatopedia automatically selects cheats by game ID.
* Now allowing to remap the "O" button on Xperia Play gamepad.
* Added decorative backdrop image in the portrait mode.
* Made backdrop optional (see "General | Show Portrait Backdrop").
